Learning Centres

Learning Centres provide a dedicated environment for staff learning and development.  Learning Centres can be booked to support a range of learning needs from time to focus on completing mandatory and statutory learning to continuous professional development.  Some Boards also have drop-in days allowing staff who don't have regular access to PCs to complete online learning.

Detailed in the tabs below you will find information on booking Learning Centres within your Board.

    National Services Scotland

NSS Learning Centres are located in Gyle Square, Meridian Court, Canderside, and the Jack Copland Centre. These Learning Centres provide a free, welcoming space for staff to complete online learning, personal study, group and classroom training. ECDL testing will also take place here.

Our learning centres offer a protected ‘drop in’ day every Tuesday for personal development and no bookings or training sessions will take place on this dedicated day. Members of the Learning and Development team will also be on hand during this time and staff may come for advice on any learning and development matter.

The Jack Copland Centre will be available to book on Monday's and Fridays only. The room will be prioritised for SNBTS training on Wednesday's and Thursday's with the site also offering the protected drop in day on a Tuesday. Staff based within the JCC building or elsewhere within SNBTS can book the room on Wednesday and Thursdays through the normal JCC room booking procedure. That is, an e-mail is sent to the reception desk.

Anyone wishing to use this room must have received on site fire safety training.

Available dates can be viewed on Meeting Room Manager (MRM) and will appear as greyed out. To book the room please complete the Learning Centre Booking Form under the Tools and Templates tab below. Please ensure you check availability first on MRM before completing the form.  A member of the team will then process your request within 5 working days and send on confirmation.

In order to be joined up with the facilities process, the learning centre can only be booked as far in advance as bookings on MASS which is 6 months.

    NHS 24

NHS 24 has Knowledge Lab spaces in our Cardonald, Clydebank and Norseman centres. These spaces aim to facilitate creative and collaborative discussion and learning, and each space contains an interactive touchscreen to help support learning events and workshops.  There is room for individual study as well as for creative group learning sessions.  Staff can browse our library stock on the book shelves and use the self-issue PC to record and process any loans.  The spaces can be booked via the calendars and online forms on the Knowledge Lab home page.

Our online Knowledge Lab site hosts a wide variety of up-to-date knowledge, information and learning resources, with dedicated pages on specific topics to provide easy access to key information.

Use Library Search to find books, e-books, journals, e-journals and articles. The catalogue lists all the books, journals and audiovisual resources held by NHS Scotland libraries and provides access to thousands of online journal articles and to NHS 24-subscribed e-books. Use the library catalogue to:

    • Search for titles across NHS Scotland's stock of books, audiovisual resources and print journals archives.
    • View and download e-books and online journal articles.
    • Renew items you have on loan
    • Reserve any item (whether on loan or not) to have it sent to your preferred site library.

To renew or reserve a book, to view your loans and to download online material you will need your Athens login.
