National Services Scotland

The concept of job sharing involves dividing an established full-time post between two or more employees with each person undertaking a proportion of the specific duties or responsibilities. 

Job sharing can offer flexibility in terms of recruitment and retention of staff as well as effective use of staffing resources.

Every post within NSS is suitable for job sharing unless it can be positively demonstrated otherwise.  It is essential that both job sharers posses the necessary qualifications and expertise required to undertake the duties of the post.

NHS 24

NHS Education for Scotland

By implementing this job share policy, NES aims to create an environment that will allow all employees to utilise their skills, talents and experience and thereby allow it to both recruit and retain a well motivated and committed workforce.

NES will actively promote job sharing by ensuring that all job advertisements state that applications will be welcomed from candidates seeking a job share opportunity.

Job share is designed to increase the variety and seniority of work available to those not seeking full-time employment, without reducing the number of full-time jobs in the organisational structure.

Public Health Scotland

The concept of job sharing involves dividing an established full-time post between two or more employees with each person undertaking a proportion of the specific duties or responsibilities. 

From 1st April 2020 Public Health Scotland will bring together staff previously employed by NSS and NHS Health Scotland alongside new PHS employees, meaning different routes for staff to access HR information.  Please refer to the option below that best describes your circumstances to ensure you refer to the correct information.
