Job Train Recruitment System
The new national recruitment system has launched and now replaces iRecruitment. The new system is easier for hiring managers and candidates to use, is compatible with portable devices (such as tablets and mobile phones) and can be accessed 24/7 via your own personal computer. Please note you should use Firefox or Google Chrome to acces the National Recruitment System.
Information for Hiring Managers
All Line Managers will be added as new users to the system and will be emailed with login details. If you require additional users, who are not line managers, to be added to support you with shortlisting, please provide their name, email address and the number of the post you wish them to support with using the Contact Us form.

Information for Candidates
- Is it possible to add in another member of staff to assist with shortlisting?
Yes, if you want another member of staff to have access to the post, please get in touch using our Contact Us form and let us know the person's name and email address.
- Will my application history transfer to Jobtrain?
No applicant data will be transferred from onto Jobtrain. Therefore please save any application information you wish to retain.
- Where do I get my login details?
Line Managers will automatically be set up on the system and sent details of how to log in. If you do not receive these or if you require shortlisters to be set up please get in touch using the Contact Us form. Candidates can self-register on the system when applying for a role.
- I am having issues accessing the site via my browser
As with most new systems now, the new recruitment system is not supported on anything less than Internet Explorer 11. If you are using an earlier version of Internet Explorer, you can use Firefox instead to access the site.
- Will candidates be notified if shortlisted for Interview?
Yes Candidates will receive email notifications throughout the recruitment process if there are any updates to the status of their application. The notification will advise that there has been an update to their application status and to log in to their Candidate Portal on the National Recruitment System to view the update.
- Where are external vacancies advertised?
All external vacancies are posted on the following sites as standard - SHOW, which re-directs applicants to the National Recruitment System job site, Indeed, Adzuna, Google for Jobs - https://apply.jobs.scot.nhs.uk/
- What applicant information can I see at shortlisting stage?
At the shortlisting stage a hiring manager cannot see any applicant personal information, e.g. name, address, equal opportunities. As a hiring manager you can see the applicant's education, professional registrations, work history, right to work details and supporting statement.
- I have forgotten my Username for the National Recruitment System
Your username is your NHS email address
- I have forgotten my password for the National Recruitment System?
Please use the Forgotten Password hyperlink on the National Recruitment System log in screen.
- I am having difficulty logging in to the new National Recruitment System

- Do I have to wait until closing date to complete shortlisting?
No you can start shortlisting as soon as you receive applications.
