Manager Self Service

What Does eESS Mean for me as a Line Manager?

  • Real time employee history – absence, return to work, maternity
  • Instant approval process – tasks completed in real time
  • Direct access to reports – identification of trends and patterns
  • Proxy authorisation

Keeping Employee Data up to Date

It is really important as a line manager, that you ensure that your employee data is up to date and you are matched with the right staff. This ensures that you are only viewing data held for your employees and that the data from eESS which feeds other systems, such as the special leave portal, is correct. Any changes should be advised to HR via the appropriate Notification of Change process for your Board.

Ultimately this is your data so it is important to keep it up to date. To support you in doing this you will find guidance on the eESS Support Site. Click on the tab and choose the support document you need.

Line Manager Reporting Tools

Line managers with staff assigned to them, can now access staff reports in eESS that pull together existing key information into one easily accessible place. These reports are also known as ‘Dashboards’.

Having this information available in one place will save you (as line managers) time, and in the case of absence information can help you identify areas of concern early and ensure you are providing support to your staff at the right time.

You can find guidance on how to use these reports below.
